Matīss Vingris, Mag.iur., joined VILGERTS’ litigation and dispute resolution team in 2022.
Matīss assists the firm’s clients on litigation & dispute resolution matters.
Matīss has over five years of experience working as an assistant to a judge in the courts of all three instances, including the Civil Cases Department of the Supreme Court.
During his tenure at the Supreme Court, Matīss has accumulated extensive knowledge of civil procedure law and has worked with questions related to property rights, division of joint ownership, tenancy disputes, labor disputes, and others.
Matīss assisted the Supreme Court in its submissions of applications to the Constitutional Court, assisting in establishing reasonable doubt of the debtor as a basis for release from consequential losses due to default, establishing the legal nature of a creditor's notice and the distinction between a legal transaction and a creditor's notice.
His invaluable experience at the Supreme Court adds procedural and tactical insights into the workings of the Latvian courts in any given matter.
