Profile

Gunta Bambāne, Mag. iur., joined VILGERTS Litigation and Dispute resolution team in 2018. Before joining VILGERTS, Gunta contributed to the representation of Latvian government before the Court of Justice of the European Union in wide range of cases including insurance, investment arbitration, agricultural, data protection and customs issues. Gunta provided extensive legal advice in European Union law matters and litigation strategies before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Gunta also assisted insolvency administrators and worked with civil, administrative and corporate issues in a law firm.

Gunta is a co-author of two chapters of textbook European Union Law II - The Substantive Law (ed. Dr. Christoph Schewe): Citizenship of the European Union and The prohibition of discrimination on the grounds of nationality, published by Tiesu namu agentura, in August 2016.

Experience

Advising a leading retail chain in the Baltics on the EU competition aspects of a proposed joint purchasing agreement.

Proved to Public Procurement Monitoring Bureau that technical requirements for a ticket sales and distribution system unlawfully prohibited our client, Bilesu Serviss, from participating in a 0.1 Mio EUR tender.

Advising the Latvian Association of Optometrists and Opticians in registering medical technologies with the Latvian Health Inspectorate and clarifying statutory training requirements for medical personnel.
